Albricci Peregrini

The renovation of Palazzo Albricci Peregrini, a charming noble building located in the heart of Como’s historic center at Via Rovelli 28, showcases a delicate blend of history and modernity. The building boasts a rich history, evident from its late medieval architectural forms. Originally built at the end of the 15th century, the palace features a courtyard with a surviving fresco dated 1503, depicting the Madonna with Saints Peter and Matthew alongside noblewomen and gentlemen, painted above the entrance archway.

In the 15th century, the building was inherited by the family of Bishop Albricio Peregrino, from whom the palace takes its name. A copy of the bishop’s funerary stele is now displayed in the courtyard. Historically, the building, like many others in the walled city, had stables in the portion facing the internal garden, opposite the street. Completed in January 2018, the restoration project aimed to create a dialogue with the pre-existing structure, introducing modern elements to accommodate contemporary living. The project sought to achieve an imperfect and incomplete beauty, an understated elegance attained through a careful balance of materials, light, colors, and scents, avoiding ostentation while embracing sobriety.

Palazzo Albricci Peregrini comprises six suites (ranging from 20 to 55 square meters), each with its own story to tell. The rooms are adorned with a collection of travel objects that the owning family gathered over the years, thoughtfully distributed and grouped by their places of origin. This careful curation enhances the sense of history and personal narrative, creating a unique and intimate atmosphere for guests.
